Maya Rudolph Opens Up About Portraying Kamala Harris On SNL

August 2024 · 2 minute read

As you might know, Maya Rudolph has been doing a great job impersonating Kamala Harris on Saturday Night Live and she’s been enjoying the ‘honor’ as well! The actress has been portraying the potential vice-president since the 45th season premiere last year and she is not planning on stopping in the future as far as she still gets the opportunity!

During a new interview for ET, Maya Rudolph opened up about her experience playing the California senator and Democratic vice presidential nominee on the longstanding comedy show.

Here’s what she had to say!

‘It’s really such an honor to be involved in any presidential race, and this one is a real doozy. So it is really an honor. I got to meet her, and she is so fantastic. She is so incredible, she is so energizing and I just feel so good to be associated with someone so positive. I just want to do her proud — just do a good job, no pressure!’

For her amazing impression of Harris, Rudolph managed to get an Emmy just last week but as far as she is concerned, she is still not sure she’s ‘nailed it.’

‘I definitely tried to make her fun because I do feel that when I see her. You can tell she loves life and she is real and she is honest and she has no problem speaking her mind and being forthright about it, which I think is so important right now. But she is also so joyful and you see her dancing in the room and all this stuff. She is just a great human, and I forgot what it felt like to see that and to see something so positive. It feels so good to see her out there,’ the talented comedian dished via the same news outlet.
